Inspiration

Words and music are two things that have often been used to lift the human spirit. They also provide us a way to remember the people in our lives who we have loved and lost. The words and music contained on this page came from the Lady Jayes web site (unless otherwise noted when the song plays). You will find numerous links below and each will take you on a written or musical voyage. As you read the words or listen to the music remember your lost love and they will - for a brief moment in time - return to you.

But first this tribute ......... to some special people in my life ........ let me take you ......."Somewhere over The Rainbow"

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

This song is dedicated to all those I have lost in the last two years - My dear mate of 27 years and best friend Jack - Our wonder dog Dusky who was a sweet and gentle companion to Jack and me for more than 15 years - Our good friend Timmy who helped me take care of Jack when he was ill - And finally to my father a kind and gentle soul who I was lucky to have as part of my life for 57 years.

To all the following individuals who so gently touched my life in the years gone by. I recognize and pay tribute to what you have meant to me during this journey - My mother (Luciana), sisters (Cathy and Barbara) and friends, Judi, Sharon, Brenda, Pattie M, Patti B, Roy, Ray, David L, David C, Lanette, Penny & Marion, Paul & Steve, Paul & Jerry, Ron & Dave, Larry, Ann, Lorraine, Shep, Faye, Marty and all my special friends on the grief healing web site run by Marty and my friends at Hospice of the Valley.

To My Banana Bread Man's son Tom - Jack's finest creation.
To My Banana Bread Man's granddaughters Madison - Jack's personal ray of sunshine and Mia - who arrived after Papa Jack was gone.
They are shining examples of the qualities that Jack possessed - and this song is dedicated to you as well - for all you were to him and all the joy I had with you when Jack was alive. You carry his heritage with you. Love never dies - and neither does the special heritage you carry of My Banana Bread Man.

You Raise Me Up

At Jack's funeral on August 6, 2005, in a memorial chapel in Fountain Hills Arizona, he was memorialized as a good man who lived his life in the moment, who raised me up, and took my breath away.

The song - "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban was played prior to my eulogy to honor My Banana Bread Man.

The Twelfth of Never

This is a special song for me. When Jack was sick one of the five special musical disks he wanted to listen to was the one with all of Johnny Mathis's songs. I still recall the song "The Twelfth of Never" playing and sitting by his side singing the song to him and crying.

Below is the link to "The Twelfth of Never" by Johnny Mathis.

My Time on Earth

The song - "My Time on Earth" By Billy Gilman.

I particularly like this song as it speaks to me about the quality as opposed to the longevity of a life and highlights the need to live our lives in the moment. It speaks to me of Jacks life - short but so sweetly lived in the moment.

Pay particular attention to the the one verse of the song that says

Its not the length of the life
Or the depth of the grave
In the end we'll be measured
By the love that we gave

"Our best chance of touching the eternal in our own small ways is to live the life we're given, savoring the now, deciding for the future, remembering always that the secret of the stars are folded tightly into the mysterious center of the present moment." Thomas Kinkade

Rainbow Bridge

The music - for "Rainbow Bridge" by Jim Warren

During the course of Jack's 10-month illness we had to face the loss of our
beloved companion Dusky who died just a few months after Jack's courageous
battle which brain cancer had begun. On the morning of December 6, 2004 I
was with Dusky as I gently released our dear four legged friend as he traveled
over the "Rainbow Bridge" - and out of my sight.

Touch The Wind

A beautiful English version of Touch the Wind - see lyrics below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oSfy34lJhE

I woke up this morning,
And my mind fell away
And looking back sadly
From tomorrow

As I heard an echo from
The past softly say
Come back, Come back
Won't you stay?

I wanted to reach you,
Let You know I still care
And lost in the silence of
My sorrow

I put a promise in the wind, on the air
To fly away - to you there

Touch the wind
Catch my love as it goes sailing
Touch the wind
And I'll be close to you

(Touch the wind) I'll be easy To find,
MM-MMM-MM-MMM
(Touch my love as it goes sailing)
On the wings of the morning I'll come sailing
(Touch the wind) I'll be easy to find,

Woo-Hoo
Ooh-Hoo
(And I'll be close to you)
And Baby, I'll be close to you

And only forever can I say - I Love You
And only forever have - I Lost You,
But only a dreamer could wake up as I do
And hope Its still yesterday

Touch the wind
Catch my love as it goes sailing
Touch the wind
And I'll be close to you

(Touch the wind) I'll be easy to Find,

MM-MMM MM-MMM

(Touch my love as it goes sailing)

On the wings of the morning I'll come sailing
(Touch the wind)
 I'll be easy to find,
Woo-Hoo Ohh-Ohh-Hoo

(And I'll be close to you)

And Baby, I'll be close to You

(Touch the wind)
